Coordination: India

The main aim of IPI activity in India is to promote "Balanced Nutrition" with emphasis on K nutrition in the main crops. This mission is carried out via research and extension activities: field experiments, demonstration plots, farmers meetings, dealers training programs, field days, workshops and conferences, publications and awards and assistance for researchers.

Dr. Patricia Imas, IPI Coordinator for India, has over 15 years' experience working with farmers, dealers, extension workers, researchers and state officials. She has been active in the area of plant nutrition and crop fertilization for over 25 years. Her international experience includes agricultural research and extensions programs and consultancies worldwide, especially in Argentina, China and India.

By training, Dr. Imas is an Agronomic Engineer from the Faculty of Agronomy, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She completed her MSc and PhD at the Department of Soil and Water Sciences, Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Quality Sciences, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. Her MSc thesis focused on the "Relationship between Yield and Transpiration under Different Nutrition Conditions", and her PhD thesis, supervised by Prof. U. Kafkafi, on "Chemical and Biological Processes in the Rhizosphere Affecting Phosphorus Mobility and Uptake Conditions".

Dr. Imas has comprehensive knowledge of specific crops grown in India including rice, wheat, soybean, pulses, vegetables, etc. She has published papers in peer review journals, served as an editor for IPI proceedings, and presented IPI research projects at international events. As IPI Coordinator for India, she developed and implemented regular training programs for dealers and farmers across India and produced numerous leaflets in various Indian languages.

In addition, Dr. Imas is the representative of Dead Sea Works Ltd. at the Technical Secretariat of IPI, and is in charge of developing improved media and communication tools for the institute. At IPI, she was also previously a coordinator for China and Argentina.
